More Fun At The Lake!

We've enjoyed some quality family time at Eagle Lake this summer.  We opted out of planning a family vacation and instead tried to find as much time as possible that we could enjoy helping at the lake and playing at the lake.  Dan has been working in education for 11 years and this is really the first summer that we were able to enjoy some substantial time off.  When he was a teacher we always supplemented his income in the summers with one of us working and his first couple years as a principal didn't offer a lot of days off due to transitions at work.  This summer though...we have truly enjoyed time together, relaxation and refreshment as a family.

Now that Dan's brother and his family live just down the street the cousins enjoy lots of time together and that doesn't change when we're at the lake.  They are almost inseparable at times and I love it!!

Some jet ski fun as they rode together around the lake!

Taking out the paddle boat, you could hear the boys saying "row...row...row..." the entire time they were in the boat!!

Playing games in the camper

He loved this shallow sand bar area.  Our fearless little man is actually a little nervous in the deeper water that a 'pokey fish' is going to get him!

He beat me in the fish catching department...his fish is a 'little' bigger than mine. :)

The first half of July

The first half of July has flown by...the saying "time flies when you're having fun" was definitely true this month!!  We enjoyed time at the lake over the 4th.  The kids enjoyed fishing, swimming, jet skiing and we also took them to 'Despicable Me 2'.  They thought it was hilarious!

After a few days of fun at the lake it was time to go home, wash clothes and pack up so we could head to Lost Timber Bible Camp.  I went there from 3rd grade through 12th grade.  Lots of memories, great friendships and definite growth in my relationship with the Lord happened here, so sharing it with my kids was pretty special.  My sister in law and I helped out the in the kitchen while Josiah, Alayna and 2 of her kids were campers.  Lots of quality time and lots of fun!!

The kids were in teams and each night they were judged on how creatively they memorized their scripture verse and 'acted' it out.  It was really fun to watch them each night!!

One of the nights they had a talent show and the 3 cousins/friends put together a dance to the song 'Gold' before going to camp, so they performed it that night.  They did a great job!

They did a lot of black light activities...
 With the flash...
 In the black light...
Yep, he colored his whole hand and it looked pretty cool.
 Hailey with her face decorated!
Alayna with some friends from camp.
 Staffers...
 Campers, Counselors and Staffers...
 Alayna's cabin...

And after a week of missing Dan and Seth I came home to beautiful flowers, a super sweet card and a clean house.  I think he loves me!! :)

Finishing off the month of June

On Father's Day we enjoyed watching the Red Hawks.  We were given free tickets in box seats so we couldn't pass up that deal!

Free day at the zoo and since we haven't gotten a zoo membership yet this year it was actually our first time going.  We are normally regular's at the zoo.  It might not be a huge zoo, but sometimes it's nice just to enjoy a change of scenery.  The kids had fun and so did we!

While the kids were at Grandma Camp (pics to follow), Dan and I enjoyed a few days at the lake relaxing and seeing beautiful sunsets like this.  I love quality time together and relaxing by the lake was an added bonus!

Though we weren't at Grandma Camp we did go for the final VBS performance.  All 3 kids were at Grandma Camp this year (grades K-6 get to go).  It was fun to watch their program and after 5 days away from us I was more than ready to see them and hug them!!

June was a fun month filled with various sport camps, family fun weekends, time at the lake and Grandma Camp...July has so far been equally as exciting...more to come about that in the next post!
